Preston, Oklahoma

Will PRESTON have a snow day?

How much snow it takes here

Okmulgee County averages 2.3 inches of snow a year, and its average winter temperature is 41°F (NOAA 1991–2020 normals). Schools in places like this typically close at less than an inch of snow, sooner if there is ice or the snow falls during the morning commute. Even a light glaze of ice can shut schools down in an area that rarely sees snow.

Where to check for an official closing

Only PRESTON can close its schools. Districts usually post closings and delays on their website and social media, send texts, emails or robocalls to families, and report them to local TV and radio stations, often by 5:30 or 6 a.m. The district office's number is (918)756-3388.
