Velma, Oklahoma

Will VELMA-ALMA have a snow day?

How much snow it takes here

Stephens County averages 2.8 inches of snow a year, and its average winter temperature is 42.4°F (NOAA 1991–2020 normals). Schools in places like this typically close at less than an inch of snow, sooner if there is ice or the snow falls during the morning commute. Even a light glaze of ice can shut schools down in an area that rarely sees snow.
